Ministry Needs

(Please Scroll Down - & - Thanks for your patience)

There is a need for quite a few dedicated, mature, doctrinally sound volunteers  who love the Lord and love people to help in the following ministry areas at this time.  In order to provide safeguards for the integrity of our faithfulness to the Lord, we do require your agreement with a basic set of biblical doctrines.  Those can be viewed (and printed if you wish) by scrolling down this page to the heading: "Affirmation of Common Beliefs and Mission Statement" below.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

1.  Survey work for an inner city Church in Memphis, TN.   Will involve knocking on doors, taking a short survey and recording answers and comments, leaving gospel tract and church information at the home or business, and seeking to be a blessing to others in the process.  If interested please

2.  Follow up and discipling of inmates and ex-inmates who have made public decisions for Christ recently.  Please if interested. This will involve:

a.  helping inmates upon release to find a good start with a good church, hopefully a job to support them, and help them to be well grounded in the scriptures, especially in how to study the Bible for themselves.  Getting newly-released persons established with a community of caring believers is crucial  Please help.

b.  going into correctional centers to help to disciple and encourage inmates who have made public decisions for Christ recently.  There are many in need of discipling ministries at any time.   Obviously, it is best that women counsel with women and men with men.  At this time we have many more men volunteering than ladies.  Please, ladies: volunteer, too!!

3. We are formulating plans for a new "mentoring" ministry. This involves personally impacting others for discipleship, evangelism, and authentic Christian lifestyle.  This is not quite the same as "small group," "classes," or the like.  If you are interested, please contact us for additional information.

Affirmation of Common Beliefs and Mission Statement

Mission Volunteers, Prison or Christian Ministry Needs Survey Workers

PURPOSE:  To honor the Lord, maintain harmony, and promote a focus on evangelism and discipleship, those working in this ministry will subscribe to and affirm a set of core beliefs as a condition of participation in leadership roles of any kind in this ministry resolve to clearly affirm the "faith once delivered to the saints." (Jude 3)

We celebrate the brotherhood of all saints, those adopted into the family of God and purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ by His complete redemptive work.  Regardless of our denominational affiliation, we affirm and celebrate those doctrines common to all genuine Christians throughout history. We choose to avoid any appearance of conflict over preferences regarding non-core issues such as worship styles, musical tastes, church government styles, and so forth.  We choose to place ourselves in submission first of all to the Lordship of Christ, then to the task at hand under the authority of those leaders appointed and ordained for this time, so that Christ will be honored in each of us and in all of us.  We will abstain from all practices that may be divisive or may detract from the evangelistic thrust of these meetings, such as but not limited to:  "healing or anointing services," urging persons to 'learn how' to "speak in tongues," "slaying in the spirit," and the like.  Determination of acceptability of practices will be at the sole discretion of  the appointed, supervising ordained minister.  We desire to cooperate with the working of the Holy Spirit through each of us and all of us, to exalt and lift up the Name of Jesus, so that those to whom we minister will be drawn to Him.

Central Doctrines We Affirm:

I.                                God:  Our Lord is One God expressed through three Personalities:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Mt. 3:13-17; 28:19; Gal. 4:4-7)

II.                             Man:  Mankind is created in the image of God, but that image has been universally marred by sin.  All of us have sinned because we are sinners.

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"  (Rom. 3:10)

III.                           Sin:  Sin is the transgression of God's Law, and is the failure to live up to God's perfect standard of righteousness, which includes obedience to His commands.  No natural son of a human father has ever lived without sin, because we are all sinful. (Ps. 51:5; Rom. 5:12; 1 John 3:4)

IV.                          Judgment:  All who reach a state of awareness of sin are in desperate straits and live in a state of guilt, and are now under condemnation because they are guilty sinners apart from Christ.  There is an inescapable eternal judgment that awaits those who pass from this life without receiving the offer of salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ.  (Rom. 3:23; Heb. 9:27)

V.                             Jesus:  Jesus is the virgin born Son of Mary, the stepson of Joseph, and the only begotten Son of God.  He is eternal God clothed in flesh.  He lived a righteous life without sin, in perfect obedience and submission to His heavenly Father. He now lives and intercedes for the saints through the ages.  He is the only Savior, and the only hope for salvation from the condemnation and just punishment all sinners deserve.  He wants to be our Savior, Friend, and Brother.  Jesus willingly gave His life in full payment for the penalty due because of our sin when He died on the cross.  He was raised from the dead on the third day according to the scriptures and lives forevermore.  He is Lord of all regardless of whether we choose to accept His offer to be our personal Savior.  (1 Cor. 15:3-4; John 14:6; Phil. 2:10-11; Heb. 7:25)

VI.                          Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit indwells every Christian.  He convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment.  He is our Comforter. He is the One Who draws us to the Father.  He is our instructor, our encourager, and our faithful guide. He always works in complete harmony with Scripture.  He can be grieved by our rebellion, and His working can be quenched by our refusal to cooperate with His leadership.  He empowers us to be useful, fulfilled vessels for the work of God.  He is the ultimate teacher and persuader of men. (John 3:5-8; John 16:8-14; Rom. 8:26; Eph. 4:30; 1 Thess. 5:19)

VII.                        The Bible:  The Bible is the Word of God, and is His entirely and specifically trustworthy, reliable, authoritative revelation of Himself to mankind. Holy Spirit, the author of Scripture, used human instruments to record the word of God, and He has supernaturally preserved the canon of scripture through the ages.  (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Ps. 119:99, 105; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

VIII.                     The Church:  The Church is made up of believers in Christ.  We are members of His body, and He is the Head.   The Church is the Bride and He is the Bridegroom. (1 Cor. 12: 25, 27; Is. 62:5; Rev. 21:2-3)

IX.                          Salvation:  God's free gift of salvation is offered to all who will receive Him on His terms.  Our eternal salvation depends on the finished work of redemption accomplished by Christ, and not on our own ability or performance.   We are changed by His power to become children of God, forever a part of His family. (John 3:16; John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:13-17;  1 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 4:4-7; Heb. 9:11-22)

X.                             Evangelism:  Part of our joy and duty to God is to love those that He loves, and to invite others to accept His offer of salvation. (Mat. 28:19-20; John 3:16-17; Ez. 3:7-11)

Mission Statement:

We purpose to work together under the leadership and empowerment of Holy Spirit to clearly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to invite groups and individuals to repent of their sin and receive new life in Christ. We will lovingly challenge believers to pursue effective discipleship. We further commit to obey and honor the precepts found in Matthew 28:19-20 and in 2 Timothy 2:1-5, for the glory and honor of God.

As a condition of participation in these ministries, I knowingly, freely, and willingly subscribe to and affirm the beliefs and Mission Statement shown above.
